Wortham, TX (March 7, 2014) – Lucas Oil is proud to announce sponsorship of the fourth annual James Stewart Freestone Spring Championship, which kicks off on Tuesday, March 17, 2014 in Wortham, TX. The My Lucas Oil activation team will be on-site for the event to facilitate the podium and distribute awards, including Lucas Oil product prizes for top finishers in every class.
The Spring Championship takes place on the former Lucas Oil AMA Pro National Motocross track. Jason Witt, head of Athlete Support with Lucas Oil’s amateur team, the Lucas Oil Legion, says, “We’ve been trying to get back to Freestone since the last Pro National was held there in 2012. We’ve been lucky to maintain a relationship with the track. We had some involvement with theFMF Texas Night Series last year. But we’re very excited about getting back there this year and once again having a hands-on presence at this much-talked about event.”
Earning the AMA designation of one of five amateur “majors,” the James Stewart Freestone Spring Championship finds itself amongst prestigious company, stacking up to national events like Loretta Lynn’s, Mini-O’s, and Mammoth MX, and attracting competitive MX riders from across the country.
“In 2014, we’re seeing a renewed commitment to motocross, and in particular, amateur motocross. Lucas Oil has signed on for another five years as title sponsor of the Pro National outdoor series, which will be aired on their own television network MAVTV. And now, with their support, we’ve been able to expand our grassroots program, and really invest our time and energy into the future of MX,” says Witt.
New this year, the Women’s Motocross class competes on Saturday for the national title. This race is one of eight events in the WMX Championship series, which culminates at the Winter Olympics in Gainesville, FL in November.
As in the past two years, all of the 46 class champions in 2014 will be invited to join James “Bubba” Stewart for the exclusive “JS7 Champions Ride Day” in Haines City, FL just before the Mini O’s at Gatorback Cycle Park. Additionally, a few select riders will be chosen as “Hard Luck” riders and extended special invitations for their efforts.
