Progress: RMX250R

This weekend the carburetor was put on the back burner and we dug into the water pump and reeds. The water pump cover had a ton of what looked like calcium deposits all around it. So we drained everything and pulled the cover off. It looked clean inside, so we just replaced the gasket and the o-ring on the input and put it all back together. We also noticed, when pulling the carb, that the rubber boot on the reed valve was pretty...

And So It Begins…

Our new project bike, the ’94 RMX250, has been sitting in storage since 2002. Like the other bikes in this collection, it was not properly prepped for storage. So, we were prepared for the worst…and we found it! Being a 2-stroke, pulling the carb was simple, and took less than five minutes. If something looks a bit different here, this bike came with a PJ carb originally, but it was swapped out for a PWK. Anyway, upon...

Highly Appreciated Care Package

So this week a care package arrived from some long time fans and previous sponsors of All-OffRoad. Because of other commitments, they asked to remain anonymous, but I know they’ll be reading this, so a big thanks to y’all! So, thanks to some over-stock issues, arriving was not only the Rekluse clutch that I had bagged for, but also a Matrix Concept pit mat and a pair of Fox Comp 5 Offroad boots. I’ll be doing full...

Project Resurrection: The Story Continues…

With the WR436 trail ready, it’s time to get the ball rolling on our next project. We cleaned out some space in the All-OffRoad garge and pulled the trusty ol’ 1994 Suzuki RMX250 out of deep storage.  We’ve hit the drawing board with plans. This is going to be a good one! We are planning this as a long-term project. Phase I, is simply getting it running. After that will look into redoing the top-end, upgrading the...

Project Resurrection: WR426F is Rollin’

Well, the good ol’ 426 is starting to come along nicely. The latest mods, for those not keeping track, include a complete suspension redo from Santa Cruz Suspension & Accessories, a Boyesen QuickStart, and a carb cleaning/rebuild/mod/tuning for Zip-Ty Racing.   The last ride on it was pretty sweet. The suspension inspires confidence and soaks up everything I’ve thrown at it so far. It is starting, mostly (more on...

Project Resurrection: More Carburator Woes

So, after the maiden ride on the new suspension, I pulled the carb on ye ol’ WR426 again. It had been running pretty well (other than lack of idle) when I blew the fork seals, so I wondered what was up. Well, after dropping the bowl, I discovered a ton more green crap in the bowl. Yup, time for another clean out. When I picked it up from Santa Cruz Suspension, Rich did point out the all of the rubber venting in the gas cap had...
